Boyfriend gift guide: General gift guidelines

In this hub I am going to share about boyfriend gift guide, on the general guidelines of what to get for your boyfriend or husband.

I am not sure whether I will be comprehensive enough whilst discussing upon this topic, therefore this topic may become part of a series and maybe updated through future hubs.

Many guys that I know, like myself, aren’t very picky or very expectant about having alot gifts from their girlfriends all the time. Unlike most ladies and girls, who will prefer boyfriends to give them gifts regularly and consistently, examples such as celebrating monthly anniversaries, most guys on the otherhand need only to be satisfied on important dates.

Of course, anyone would welcome a gift at any point of the day. However I am just showing the general guys’ perspective so that loving girlfriends or wives do not need to burn their pockets giving to their beloved.

Now what are the important dates that matter most to guys? Let us list out in the order of importance (from the greatest to the least):

1. Their birthday!
2. Valentine’s Day!
3. (For married couples only) Wedding anniversary date.
4. Yearly anniversary with the girlfriend or spouse.
5. Christmas Day (This depends on different culture.)

Well, truth be told, most guys do expect a gift for their birthday the most, and that is because all guys have ego. I am not sure on the girls’ perspective about important dates to them, but I do guess that some loving girlfriends or wives treasure Valentine’s Day or their yearly anniversary with their partner above their birthdays, just because they are so loving.

So ideally, one should give 4 gifts a year to boyfriends, and 15 gifts a year to girlfriends! (Monthly anniversary plus the above 4 important dates)

As we wll know, most guys fancy electronic gadgets such as a mobile phone or a laptop, which are things that are close to their hearts. However these gifts rip the pockets, and my advice is, only one expensive gift per year for boyfriends.

Of course, if any lady has too much money to spare, go on and splurge on your boyfriend or husband; I wouldn’t mind the very least if I am in his shoes!

I received a Playstation Portable (PSP) for my birthday from my girlfriend, and it kept me happy & satisfied for that year and more. Many guy do understand their wishlist is somewhat expensive and doesn’t really expect their girlfriends to give them such gifts all the time.

On this date, most guys think they are king and do sometimes behave as one.

There are ladies and girls who desire to spend this precious date alone with their boyfriend or husband, and truth be told, it is partially for themselves as well.

However, not all guys may like that, and may prefer a different set of activities altogether. Well, there are two other dates in a year to celebrate your relationship and love with your boyfriend specifically, Valentine’s Day and yearly anniversary date, so please let that poor guy be king for one day in a year.

Many guys will appreciate their girlfriends for that.

Girlfriends or wives may give their expensive gift of the year to their boyfriend or husband on this date, but there are cheaper alternatives actually.

Planning an activity for your boyfriend or husband, such as a gathering of good friends for a party, or any couple or group activity that interests him strongly, is good enough for a birthday gift for him.

Many guys may prefer to have a group of friends celebrating his birthday with him, or doing activities which he so badly desired for his birthday. There are some guys who really desire to be alone with their girlfriend or wife on his birthday, but I am just speaking on general terms.

The general gift guideline is to support your boyfriend’s or husband’s imagination of being king for that day, and he will love you for it.

The next day, reality will have to set in and he will be your love slave once again!

Ladies, this is your treat for this day!

Almost every guy in the world think that they have to please their girlfriend or wife on this sacred day, and though they do expect a little reciprocation from their beloved girlfriend or wife, they mostly have their perception that it is their duty to please their partners.

On this day, ladies and girls can juice up the atmosphere by giving your boyfriend or husband a special treat!

Plan in any amorous gift for your boyfriend or husband, and he will remember Valentine’s Day well!

On the other hand, slipping in the expensive gift of the year may work wonders for your boyfriend or husband.

I combined them together as they are of somewhat similar nature to each other.

This is a time where love birds commemorate their love together, and it should be a mutual loving affair for boyfriends and girlfriends, or husbands and wives.

Many guys on this date may not expect a spectacular gift from their beloved girlfriend or wives, but of course there are exceptions. On a strictly personal opinion, I believe most guys just look forward just spend time and commemorate their love with their beloved girlfriend or wives only.

Simple gifts for boyfriends or husbands may satisfy them enough. It is a good idea to give an inexpensive homemade gift for your boyfriend or husband.

Planning a short trip or holiday together is also ideal for a gift on this lovely day. Of course, boyfriends or husbands can give this gift to their girlfriend or wife as well.

However, if it is your first year anniversary together, both boyfriend and girlfriend, or husbands and wives, may expect something spectacular from each other.

So slipping in your expensive gift of the year for your first year anniversary couldn’t be more appropriate.

Finally, on Christmas Day!

It is a gift exchange, and expensive gifts are way to go!

However, secretly check on your boyfriend’s budget; if he is unable to give you something spectacular, he may feel uneasy receiving an expensive gift from you.

On the other hand, I always thought that apparels are great gift ideas on Christmas Day. Especially when the weather isn’t very forgiving.
