Christmas gift for boyfriend: Homemade gift ideas for boyfriend
66
In this hub I will be introducing another Christmas gift idea, and another one of our homemade boyfriend gift ideas.
This gift came about when my girlfriend was shopping for Christmas gifts to her family and friends, and after looking around she saw a Christmas cake towel, but it was a little expensive.
So my girlfriend decided to make it herself.
And I joined her production team, which only consists of both of us.
Therefore, we made Christmas cake towels for her family, and I thought that it is a great Christmas boyfriend gift idea as well.
Christmas gift for boyfriend: Homemade gift ideas for boyfriend
These photos are not exactly prepared for this post; rather all these gifts were done 2 years ago.
The above photo shows how it looked like when we had all our cakes put together. It was not a difficult gift to make, just that the quantity we had to make at that time made it difficult.
If I didn’t remember, both my girlfriend and I made more than 22 towel cakes in total.
However, dear loving girlfriends and wives, you only need to make one if its for your beloved boyfriend or husband only.
On the right, it is a closed up view of one of our Christmas towel cakes that we made. Looks like a cute cupcake eh?
Sorry this is one of the few closed up photos that we had. I didn’t expect to post about this Christmas gift 2 years later at that time.
How to make a circular towel cake?
It is pretty simple. Let me show you in a few steps.
1. Buy a good towel for your boyfriend or husband, some design that you feel that he might like.
2. Fold it to a reasonable width. If you need some guide, take a look at the photo below.
I have average hands of an Asian, so if I can hold that towel cake with one hand, that should be the size of your towel cake.
We tested the size of the towel cake on our own. Too big, it looks a little bulky. Too small, it looks ugly as well.
So test out with some of your towels at home to see what size of a towel you should get.
3. After folding your towel to a good width. Start rolling it up tightly. Then tie it with a thread to keep the circular shape together.
The tighter it is when you roll up the towel and when you tie it, the better your cake towel will look.
Also do avoid taping it together with musking tape or any stick tape. As the towel is made of cloth, it may roughen or spoil the texture of the towel.
As this is a love Christmas gift to your boyfriend or husband, do avoid spoiling the towel.
4. Get a good looking piece of ‘Paper Doiley’ as a base and decoration for your cake towel. Paper Doiley can really make the cake look real.
5. Get some fake cherries at some art or gift shop for decoration. They are relatively cheap, and come in different sizes as well.
Unfortunately, many shops do not sell fake cherries individually; when you buy them, you will need to buy a whole lot of them as they usually come in a single plastic package.
So if you are making just one towel for your boyfriend or husband, maybe try to get one or two pieces of fake cherries from your friends if they happen to have.
6. Lastly, get some clear wrapping plastic as shown in my above photos, and some ribbons, wrap your Christmas towel cake as shown.
You will have a nice looking piece of Christmas cake towel!
Final words for this hub
The recipients of our gifts thought that we bought these cake towels from a gift shop! It was that real and professional looking, and we were pleased with our efforts.
Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I were not able to find out how to make Christmas towel cakes in other sizes yet. Maybe I shall try to find out soon and post it here.
For this blog, I might go into the direction on giving reviews for online gift shops. That will be slowly revealed in the future, as I have not finalize my plans on how to go about doing it yet.
Just to let you all know about it first. Let me know if you have any suggestions or comments about Christmas gift ideas for boyfriends.
That’s it for this hub! Stay tuned for more updates!
